Roche Molecular Case Study
- Implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) and Development of a Change Management Strategy
Client Overview
Roche Molecular Systems is the leading medical diagnostics company in the world with a strong presence globally. They pioneer products for the prevention, diagnosis, evaluation and monitoring of diseases.
Project Overview
The objective of the project was to implement a learning management system (LMS) for the client, a concept that this particular client had never been exposed to. This involved not only migrating from a legacy, paper intensive way of tracking training, but also creating a change management strategy that would assist the business in transitioning from an SOP-focused way of doing training to a more efficient and effective skills-based training philosophy.
Clarity's Role
The two primary individuals that led the effort and ensured its success were the Project Manager and the Senior Training Consultant with expertise in implementing Learning Management Systems. Both individuals were Clarity LMS Consultants. Together, these LMS Consultants managed the effort to implement the validated, CFR Part 11 compliant learning management system for 1200 users across 5 sites, led validation testing efforts for all sites, established interface requirements and managed the development of the interfaces, created new SOPs to support the business processes related to the new system, and led effort from training system perspective to obtain ISO 13485 certification. Additionally, once the system was implemented, they led the effort to migrate many of the instructor-led training (ILT) courses that were identified as being conducive to e-learning courses, facilitated the meetings with the business to migrate from SOP to skill-based training, and to decommission the legacy system.
